Xibalba
Xibalba is the first and pilot project of Green Balam Forests. It is located within the southern limits of the buffer zone of the Maya Biosphere Reserve, in the area of El Zapote. It consists of 55 ha of land, out of which 31 ha are former cattle pastures currently in process of restoration. The remaining 24 ha are secondary forest, now protected for conservation. In the restoration area, ca. 20,000 trees of 20 native species have been planted and more are planned. The species have been chosen such that they would be a good fit for the area and would provide economic benefits to local communities. We are committed to sustainability; all of our future produce will be organic and our wood FSC certified.
